Denture reline
A denture reline adds new material to the inside surface of a denture so it fits the gums better after the mouth changes shape over time.
Gums and jawbone change shape slowly, and a denture that once fit well can start to feel loose. In a reline, the dentist or a dental lab adds new base material to the side of the denture that rests on the gums. The teeth on the denture stay the same. A reline can also be done after healing from tooth removal, because the ADA says a denture may need to be relined or remade after the jaw has healed. A reline differs from a denture rebase, which replaces the whole base. Loose dentures can cause sore spots, so tell your dentist if yours moves.
