Denture rebase
A denture rebase replaces the entire pink base of a denture with new material while keeping the same teeth and the same shape of the denture.
Over time, a denture base can wear, crack, or stop fitting as the jaw changes. In a rebase, a lab takes off the old base material and makes a new one, then reattaches the existing teeth. This keeps a denture that already looks and feels right. A rebase is different from a reline, which only adds material to the surface that touches the gums. A paper in the NIH library says denture correction by relining or even rebasing may be considered the most common option of treatment. Your dentist will talk with you about which fits your denture. See acrylic, complete denture, and our denture repair page.
