Denture adhesive

Denture adhesive is a cream, powder, or pad that helps hold a denture in place, but it does not replace a well-fitting denture.

Some people use adhesive to feel more secure when they eat or talk. The ADA says denture wearers may use adhesives, and that they come as creams, powders, pads or wafers, strips, or liquids. Adhesive is not a fix for a poor fit. A denture that needs more and more adhesive may need a reline or a new base. Clean the denture and gums well before each use, and remove old adhesive at night. Use only the amount on the label. Your dentist can recommend products, and the ADA suggests looking for the ADA Seal of Acceptance. See complete denture and partial denture, or our dentures page.
