Broken crown
A broken crown is a dental crown that has cracked, chipped or come off the tooth underneath. It needs a dentist's attention soon.
A crown is a tooth-shaped cap that covers a tooth. Sometimes a crown can crack or come loose. Cleveland Clinic lists a lost or broken dental restoration as a dental emergency.
If you have a broken crown or bridge, make an appointment with your dentist as soon as possible and bring the restoration with you. Cleveland Clinic says that if possible you can put the restoration back in place after coating the inner surface with over-the-counter dental cement, toothpaste, or denture adhesive. It also says not to use super glue.
The tooth underneath may be exposed to decay, so do not wait. See dental crown, temporary crown, and dental cement. The practice describes its approach on the dental crown page.
