Major services benefit
A major services benefit is the plan tier for larger work, such as crowns, dentures, implants and oral surgery. Plans usually pay the smallest share here.
Major services are the highest tier in most dental plans. NADP says they usually include crowns, dentures, implants and oral surgery, and that co-payments or coinsurance are typically higher for these services. Some plans call them Class III, Group III, or Type C.
Because costs are higher, a plan may add rules to major services. These can include a waiting period, a missing tooth clause, an alternate benefit clause, or a limit from your annual maximum. Plans differ on where a service falls, and some place root canals or implants differently.
A pre-determination can show what to expect. Compare basic services. See dental crowns and the insurance and financing page.
