Implant-supported denture
An implant-supported denture is a removable or fixed set of replacement teeth that is held in place by dental implants instead of resting only on the gums.
A regular denture rests on the gums and can shift when you eat or talk. An implant-supported denture clips onto, or screws to, two or more dental implants in the jaw. This gives it more stability and can keep it from sliding. Cleveland Clinic says implant-retained dentures typically offer more stability than traditional dentures because they snap on to implants embedded in the jaw. Some types snap off for cleaning, like an overdenture. Others are fixed in place and are removed only by the dentist. You still need to clean the denture and the implants every day. Your dentist will talk with you about the number of implants and the type that fit your bone. See complete denture and our dentures page.
