Implant crown
An implant crown is a tooth-shaped cap made to attach to a dental implant, and it replaces the part of the tooth you can see.
After an implant has healed in the jaw, the dentist adds the visible tooth. This piece is the implant crown. It is made in a lab from a scan or impression, and its size, shape, and color are matched to your other teeth. The ADA says that for a single tooth implant, your dentist will customize a new tooth for you, called a dental crown. The crown may be held to the abutment by a small screw or by cement. It is made of porcelain, zirconia, or a similar material. It cannot decay, but the gum and bone around it still need care. See dental implant and our dental implant page.
