Dental Team and Specialties
Prosthodontist
A prosthodontist is a dentist with extra training in replacing missing teeth and rebuilding damaged ones. Prosthodontics is the recognized dental specialty for this work.
Prosthodontics is one of the 12 dental specialties recognized by the ADA's National Commission. It covers the diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation and maintenance of oral function, comfort, appearance, and health for patients with missing or deficient teeth, using biocompatible substitutes. A prosthodontist is a dentist who completed extra training in this area.
The work can include crowns, bridges, dentures, and implants. Many general dentists also provide crowns, bridges, and dentures. A general dentist may refer a complex case. This is a title for a specialty. It is not a title for the dentists at Town Center Dental, who are general dentists.
See the tooth replacement page for the practice's own description.
