Incisor

Incisors are the flat, thin front teeth. You have four on top and four on the bottom, and they cut food when you bite.

Incisors are the teeth at the very front of your mouth. Each has a single, narrow, sharp edge. That edge works like a knife to cut food. They are the teeth most people see when they smile.

Most adults have eight incisors, four on top and four on the bottom. Children's primary teeth include incisors too. See permanent teeth for more.

Options such as bonding or veneers can change how a front tooth looks. A dentist can talk with you about what fits your teeth.
