Dental membership plan

A dental membership plan is an in-office savings plan, not insurance. You pay a yearly fee and get set services or discounts from that office.

Some dental offices have dental membership savings plans. The ADA's MouthHealthy site says these plans typically charge a fixed dollar amount each year for specific services, such as cleanings and exams. Other services may be offered at discounted rates.

A membership plan is not dental insurance. It does not pay claims the way a plan does. NADP describes a similar discount dental plan as a type of plan that is not insurance, where a network of dentists agrees to specified discounted prices.

Terms differ from one office to another, so ask to read the plan in writing. This entry does not say that Town Center Dental has a membership plan. See the insurance and financing page for what the practice offers.
