PPO dental plan
A PPO dental plan uses a network of contracted dentists with set fees. You may see dentists outside the network, but you usually pay more.
A preferred provider organization (PPO) is a type of plan with a network of contracted providers. The ADA describes a dental PPO as regular indemnity insurance combined with a network of dentists under contract to deliver specified services for set fees.
You pay less when you use a dentist in the network. You can go outside it for an added cost. Contracted dentists must usually accept the plan's maximum allowable fee. A PPO often has a deductible, coinsurance, and an annual maximum.
Compared with a DHMO, a PPO gives more choice of dentist, and it often costs more. Check whether a dentist is in network before you book. See the insurance and financing page for this office's information.
