# Invisalign

Invisalign is a brand name for a system of clear aligners, a series of removable plastic trays used to straighten teeth.

Invisalign is one brand of [clear aligners](https://towncenterdental.multisites.ai/glossary/clear-aligners). Cleveland Clinic lists Invisalign and ClearCorrect as examples of clear aligners. The process starts with a scan of your teeth and a treatment plan that maps the moves. You then wear a series of custom trays, switching to the next tray about every two weeks. You take them out to eat and clean your teeth. Treatment may also use small bumps called [aligner attachments](https://towncenterdental.multisites.ai/glossary/aligner-attachments) and, at times, [interproximal reduction](https://towncenterdental.multisites.ai/glossary/interproximal-reduction-ipr). Wearing the trays as directed matters for the result. A retainer is used after treatment. Your dentist will talk with you about whether it fits.
