Enamel contouring
Enamel contouring, or enameloplasty, removes a tiny amount of enamel to smooth or reshape a tooth. It can fix minor flaws.
Enameloplasty, also called odontoplasty or enamel contouring, is a cosmetic dentistry procedure. It removes tiny amounts of enamel to change a tooth's shape or size. It can smooth out small chips, pits and grooves, make pointed edges less pointy and shorten a tooth that is longer than the rest.
It is a less invasive option than other cosmetic procedures like veneers. A dentist uses a fine tool to smooth the tooth. Because enamel does not grow back, only small amounts can be removed.
Your dentist decides whether a tooth is a good fit. Enamel contouring is sometimes combined with bonding or whitening. See smile makeover. Ask your dentist what is possible for your teeth.
